September 19th

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Here's what we did today:
Reading-We visited the library and were introduced to this year's Mark Twain nominees.  We are reading one in class as a Read Aloud, Runaway Twin.  We also went over last week's cold read and I stressed the importance of:
~Rephrasing the question in your answer.
~Starting with a capital letter and ending with a period.
~Going back in the text to find the answer and underlining where you found the answer.

Writing-We focused on revising the leads in our writing.

Science-Students visited Mrs. Gastreich today to start Science!

Math-We reviewed Chapter 3.

Word Study-I met with Groups 1 and 2 to give them their new list of words.  Groups 3 and 4 will get their words tomorrow.

Homework:
Reading-The new Cold Read is due Thursday.  Please see reminders above.

Writing-If students did not finish writing three new leads in class today, they need to do so tonight.

Math-Study for the Chapter 3 test.  Remember, go to http://www.eharcourtschool.com/.  (username-tfourth, password-pass)  Note: We do NOT do front end estimation.  If the directions say to do so, students may round to the largest place value position.

Social Studies-Continue to study states and capitals.  Test is next Thursday!
