Here's what we did today:
Reading-We visited the library today to renew, return and check out new books. Miss Bergin and I also met with reading groups today to work on questioning.
Writing-We did a "pair share" today with a partner in the class to get some revision ideas.
Math-We began Chapter 3 and worked on some mental math strategies for adding and subtracting. With the homework tonight, I am not as concerned with the method the students use, but with them trying to solve these problems mentally. We learned two ways and I'd like to see them use at least one of these methods with the homework. I've asked them to write out how they solved each problem (see opposite side of homework sheet for examples) on a separate sheet of paper and to make sure that sheet is handed in with their homework.
Social Studies-We discussed the features and landmarks of the West and students had time to work on the West worksheets.
Word Study-Groups 3 and 4 took their spelling test while Groups 1 and 2 finished up their contract.
Homework:
Word Study-Groups 3/4 contract is due tomorrow.
Math-WS 3.1--odds, all of MR
Social Studies-Regions packet is due on Friday. Study states and capitals.
Have a great night!
