January 5th

Here's what we did today:
Writing-We compared the Rwanda book from yesteray to a book about Mexico in the way that the authors organized their writing.  I also introduced students to Searchasaurus, accessed through the school library.  Here, they can get all kinds of good information!

Reading-In groups, students noted the features of some expository texts they have found.  We also met in Literature Circles.

Social Studies-We learned about the Mississippians, many of whom lived in Cahokia.

Math-We spent some time reviewing the distributive property and then went on to multiply by tens.

Word Study-Groups 1/2 did their word sort while Groups 3/4 prepared their words for the sort.

Homework:
Reading-Don't forget to bring in an example of expository text.

Writing-Write in your notebook if you haven't at least twice this week.

Math-WS 11.3, all

Have a great night!

  2. What had happened in 'Sideways Stories From Wayside School' is that there was a girl named Jenny and her dad had brought her to school on his motor cycle and when jenny arrives in her class room.Jenny realies that nobody was in her class room then Jenny starts practicing her spelling. Jenny hears footsteps coming down the hall so she starts doing her spelling very fast. The door opens and it is a man with a breif case and a mustache. He takes Jennys paper and tells her to put it in her desk so she does. The man asks for Jennys name. Jenny says"my name is Jenny but my real name is Jenifer Jennys for short". Then they both heared footsteps coming down the hall. The man opens the door. It was two more men one had a mustache, and the other man is bald. They asks her questions and the bald man says "you can leave". Jenny says puzzled "okay". Before Jenny left the bald man says"next time dont go to school on a Saturday"
