January 4th

Here's what we did today:
Writing-We explored the small African country of Rwanda and discussed the importance of being curious about the topic you choose.  That curiosity will show in the finished product!

Reading-We explored different non-fiction text features such as maps, diagrams, and the table of contents.  Students also met in groups to choose a new book for literature circles.  We will be having literature circles on Mondays and Thursdays each week.

Social Studies-We began Chapter 3 and learned about the Adena and Hopewell who lived about 3,000 years ago!

Math-We applied the distributive property to multiplication.

Word Study-Groups 3 and 4 got their words while Groups 1 and 2 prepared their words for tomorrow's sort.

Homework:
Reading-Be prepared for Literature Circle tomorrow!

Writing-All students need at least two Writer's Notebook (WN) entries by Friday.  They should spend at least 10 minutes writing one.

Math-WS 11.2, evens and all of the MR

Don't forget to send in your Muffins with Mom forms!

Have a great night!
