Happy Friday! Here's what we did today:
Writing-Most students finished up their poetry books. For those who aren't finished, they need to finish them up this weekend so they can be bound in time for our class poetry buffet.
Social Studies-Students received a Missouri packets with lots of information on some of Missouri's symbols and nature. I also gave yesterday's test back and wrote on it their 4th quarter grade as they will be heading to Science on Monday. Some scores were low so I will think about an extra credit activity over the weekend and let students know of it early next week.
Math-Students took the Chapter 15 test.
Homework:
Writing-Finish up poetry book-Also, all of 4th grade is putting together one big poetry collection. Each student will be choosing 2 or 3 of their poems to include next week. Students are able to design a cover page for our class' section of the book. We will vote on Monday from all submissions. This is optional, but I encourage all students to participate!
Reading-Lit. Circles meet Monday. Make sure to go to Edmodo to complete your assignment.
**Your child should have given you a sheet yesterday about a special author's visit we are having next Tuesday. If you would like to purchase any of his books or learn more about him, make sure to read the flyer!
**Coming up next week . . . Daniel Boone field trip on Thursday!! In case you do your shopping over the weekend, keep in mind that students will need to bring a paper-bag sack lunch (including a drink) to the field trip.
Have a great weekend!

Egg Drop!
As a celebration for the end of MAP testing, 4th grade did an Egg Drop activity! Students were given the following materials: 1 egg, 10 rubber bands, 1 ft. masking tape, 1 shopping bag, 5 paper clips, 2 sheets white paper, 1 ft. yarn, 6 straws. Using only those items they had to make a blue-print for their design and we then dropped them off the top of a ladder. I was very impressed with the number of eggs that did not break! Students did a great job working together and using creativity!

One More Thing-PJ Day
I forgot to mention this today in class and I didn't want the LEAP kids to miss the message . . . on Wednesday, wear your pajamas to school and bring in change. It is Jingle for Jammies for Jacob! We'll raise money to help with his hospital bills as he goes through another round of chemo. Thanks for your support!
Behavior
As we are nearing the final month of school, I have noticed a decrease in students' attention and self-control during class. I am having to re-direct attention numerous times throughout the day and remind students to stop talking with their friends at inappropriate times as well. I've spoken to them about this, but any extra reinforcement you could provide from home would be greatly appreciated! We still have work to do to finish up 4th grade!
