November 1st

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us for the festivities yesterday!  We had a great day!  I'm working on getting the pictures up, but am having some technical issues.  They should be up soon!

Here's what we did today:
Writing-Students looked for areas in their personal narratives that they could revise for sounds, tastes, and feels.

Reading-Students met with a partner to make inferences in some new poems.  They are doing great at "reading between the lines" now!

Social Studies-We read a TFK about bats and students practiced taking notes.  They also answered some multiple choice questions about the article.

Math-As a class, we made a double bar graph of our favorite Halloween candy using stickers of our faces!  We also learned how to make line graphs.

Word Study-Groups 1/2 did a buddy check while Groups 3/4 worked on their contracts.

Homework:
Reading-Read!  I've asked students to make a line graph of their reading minutes this week.  They should record their minutes read each night in their planners and then make a line graph (They were given a sheet.) on Monday night.  This is due Tuesday, November 8.

Spelling-1/2--test tomorrow, contract due Thursday, 3/4--test Thursday, contract due Friday

Writing-Some students need to finish re-writing their narrative skipping lines.  This needs to be completed by Thursday.

Math-WS 7.3-all, See "Reading" for info. about the Reading Minutes Graph

Social Studies-Some students need to finish the questions about the article.

Tomorrow is our field trip to the Magic House!  We will be back at school in time for lunch so students may order a school lunch as normal if they choose to.  Have a good night!
