Students worked hard today and took their Math and Science tests this morning.  We also spent time sharing country reports.  This afternoon, students watched the health videos and participated in their literature circles.

Today in Math we played a review game to prepare for tomorrow's test.  In Writing, we heard some more country reports and learned a lot!  In Reading, we are going over MAP preparation packets.

Today in Math we reviewed for the fraction and decimal test by completing a study guide.  In Writing, we worked on QR codes for our country posters and began to present.  In Reading, we are going over a MAP practice packet.  We finished up our Little House on the Prairie video at the end of the day.

Last week before Spring Break and it's going to be a busy one!  Here's an outline of due dates/tests:

Tuesday: Country Reports and Posters due
Thursday: Math test (Ch. 21-22 & Ch. 26-27), Science test (Force and Motion)
Friday: DLR quiz

Tonight's Homework:
Reading-Cold Read due Friday

Writing-NO entries necessary this week: Some students may  need to complete their posters or reports tonight.

Math-STUDY, STUDY, STUDY--I've asked students to provide some "proof" that they've studied.  They may be a scrap paper with problems they've worked out, circled problems that we initially skipped on a worksheet that they're completing now, etc.  I've stressed the importance of understanding the directions.  Example:  They can all change an improper fraction to a mixed number and reduce fractions, but know the difference!

Today in Math we learned how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with common denominators.  Mrs. Critchlow came for a counseling lesson and students also worked on their publishing.  In Reading, students met in their literature circles.

*Tomorrow is half day! 
*Dress like a gym teacher tomorrow to raise money for cystic fibrosis!  Please bring a dollar.  We will be participating  in excercises with our buddies!

In Math we learned how to compare and order fractions using number lines and the shoelace method.  In Writing, we are getting close to finishing publishing.  In Reading students worked on a MAP practice test.  Groups 1 and 2 took their Word Study test and Groups 3 and 4 did a buddy check.

Today in Math we went over last month's Math eValuate and took this month's.  Some students had time to work on their Writing.  In Reading, students visited the library and did their lit. circle on Edmodo.  Groups 1 and 2 did a buddy check.

Reading-Lit. Circles meet again on Thursday, but students may log onto Edmodo whenever they'd like!

March 8

Today we practiced fractions and decimals and also learned about equivalent decimals.  In Writing, students continued publishing.  In Reading, we met with our lit. circles from Ms. Bergin's room.  All Word Study groups met for their sort.  We ended the day with our character assembly!

Today students learned about decimals to the thousandths place and how to relate fractions and decimals.  In Writing, they continued with their publishing.  We set up Edmodo accounts in Reading and will start our literature circles with Ms. Bergin's class at Sappington tomorrow!  We also went over a testing practice packet.

Today in Math we spent a lot of time going over last night's Math homework and learned how to simplify fractions and find equivalent fractions.  In Writing, students are working on publishing their reports and making country posters.  In Reading we are working on sequencing and listened to The Tooth to put the events in order.  Groups 3 and 4 got their new Word Study words.

March 4

Today in Math we started a unit on fractions and decimals.  We learned how to read and write fractions and mixed numbers.  Students also learned how change mixed numbers to improper fractions and the other way around!  In Writing, students are finishing up their editing and starting to publish.  In Reading, students visited the library.  Groups 1 and 2 got new vocabulary words.

Reading-Cold Read due Friday--Students must use RAP-Restate, Answer, Prove

Tomorrow, March 5th, from 6-8 is the Mother-Son Dance!  Next Tuesday, March 12th, from 6-8 is the Father-Daughter Dance!  Both are here at Concord in the gym.

March 1

Today in Math students took the Unit 6 test.  In Writing, they finished up their Partner Revisions and began to edit.  In Reading, we Face Timed with Ms. Bergin's class at Sappington.  We will be starting literature circles with them next week using FaceTime and edmodo.com.  The students made their lava lamps in Science!

Homework:

Just read!!  Math tests will be returned Monday.  Students got their Social Studies tests back today.
